Another anecdote...

Another one of those funny moments...
Avi likes spicy food, quite unlike Diya, so I had made bhindi or maybe turai...and he specifically wanted to eat that instead of the milder chicken curry. I warned him that it was spicy, but he wanted to eat it, why would I deny my son a moment to make me proud (afterall, he's willing to give it his all and eat SPICY VEG food). So anyway, he chomps down on it, enjoying every single morsel, filling my heart with love and pride. Diya, true to her form, ate the milder curry.
Anyway, Avi got done. He gets a paper towel and wets it. We just thought it was to clean himself up after the meal. Atul and I are still at the table, Avi is now in the family room.
All of a sudden, Atul nudges me and tells me to take a look at what Avi was doing. This boy was running around the family room, with the wet paper towel in his mouth and stuck to his lips!
"Avi, what's the matter?" says Atul. "Nothing, papa! The vegetable was too jhaal and this makes me feel better!"
It was just too funny. I guess I should have taken a picture to capture that moment. But you do get the picture, don't you?

This happened in Williamsburg, Virginia

When we were on vacation...the first night there we went to a chinese buffet restaurant. We were amazed to be seated by an eight or nine-year old little girl. So we were seated and once we got our food we decided to talk to the kids about being responsible and how they should learn something from that little girl. So Diya goes, "umm, papa, why don't you open up a restaurant? Then we will help you."
It is so amazing how their little minds work. I am constantly looking forward to adding this information to this blog.

Did you wake up when your heart was breaking?

So this happened last night. Avi was getting slightly out of control so I had to take matters into my own hands and had to smack him to sleep. This morning, ofcourse, he seemed like he had forgotten all about it. Came and gave me a hug and asked if he was still grounded. I said no, mainly because he had been punished the night before. I, however, did want to talk to him about his behaviour and how it broke my heart to have to resort to smacking him. Diya, overhearing this whole conversation, asks me, "Ma, did you wake up when your heart was breaking." Guess she felt it was traumatic enough to have woken me up!!
The thing that these kids will say never cease to bring a smile to my face.

You mean "How did it get undone?"

So we were outside playing. My daughter somehow found the old hoverdisk that she got for her birthday. Ofcourse, now it's all deflated. She takes a look at it and says, "How did it get undid?" So here I am, listening to her, listening to that poetic lilt in that sentence and all of a sudden I hear my 4-year old in his very low, monotone say, " You mean how did it get undone?" My jaw nearly hit the floor. Never thought a 4-year old could correct grammar. Neat, huh?
I have so much more to post from our vacation tales back in July. Just don't always have the time. Did not want to forget this gem, so had to post it.
