Did you wake up when your heart was breaking?

So this happened last night. Avi was getting slightly out of control so I had to take matters into my own hands and had to smack him to sleep. This morning, ofcourse, he seemed like he had forgotten all about it. Came and gave me a hug and asked if he was still grounded. I said no, mainly because he had been punished the night before. I, however, did want to talk to him about his behaviour and how it broke my heart to have to resort to smacking him. Diya, overhearing this whole conversation, asks me, "Ma, did you wake up when your heart was breaking." Guess she felt it was traumatic enough to have woken me up!!
The thing that these kids will say never cease to bring a smile to my face.
